Mary Adams, 56, Lake Mills, Iowa

Mary A. Adams, 56, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. David E. Jordon officiating. Cremation will take place following the service with private family inurnment in South Dakota.

Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills, and one hour prior to services at the church.

Mary Ann (Iverson) Adams was born Sept. 4, 1951, in Vermillion, S.D., to parents Junior and Maxine (Severson) Iverson. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen Lutheran Church, rural Meckling, S.D.

Mary attended and graduated from Vermillion High School and went on to attend the University of South Dakota receiving her degree in library science.

Mary always had a love for learning, finished her master&8217;s degree and she completed certification to become a school administrator. She previously worked as a counselor at the Mason City Alternative School, at Rockwell-Swaledale High School, and Northwood-Kensett High School. Mary most recently was employed by the Lake Mills Public Library, at Curves in Lake Mills, and helped in the office at Salem Lutheran Church when she could.

On Aug. 13, 1994, Mary was united in marriage with Bruce Adams at Bergen Lutheran Church in Meckling, S.D. The couple lived in Lake Mills, where Mary enjoyed filling their home and yard with flowers. She kept busy quilting, beading, doing all sorts of puzzles, and reading. Mary loved her children and grandchildren deeply, and had such hope for their futures.

After her death, Mary and her family helped others with the assistance of the Iowa Donor Network.

Survivors include her husband, Bruce of Lake Mills, Iowa; children, Luke (Margaret Fulton) Simpson of Seattle, Wash., Anne (Brandon) Hunt of Mobile, Ala., Chris (Diana) Adams of Kiester, Justin (Chris) Adams of Spokane, Wash., and Tim (Katie) Adams of Plainfield, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Chloe, Wesley, Kjerstin, Chelsey, Cheyenne, Tori, Paige, Austin, Destiny, and Laurin; her parents, Junion and Maxine Iverson of Vermillion, S.D.; a brother, Bruce (Lee) Iverson of Hibbing; her in-laws, Don and LaVonne Adams of Lake Mills, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.
