Mavis Knutson, 84, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Mavis Burnette Knutson of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakland Lutheran Church. The Rev. Robert Berthold will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Bonnerup Funeral Home and one hour prior to the church service. Interment will be at Oakland Lutheran Cemetery following the funeral. Mavis died on March 20, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea.
A lifetime resident of Freeborn County, Mavis was born in Emmons on March 16, 1924, to Carl and Mary Ringstad. In October 1944, she married Clare Knutson of rural Albert Lea and lived on the family farm.
Mavis is survived by her husband of 64 years, Clare; five children: Corwyn of Roseville, Paul and wife Julie of Albert Lea, Alan of St. Paul, Ross and wife Joanne of Albert Lea and Jean Hanson and husband Dewey of Hayward; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister Hazel Wangen of Albert Lea, her very best friend.
She was preceded in death by her grandchild, Daniel Hanson; great- grandchildren Michael and Vanessa Knutson; parents, Carl and Mary Ringstad; brothers, Conrad Ringstad and Orville Ringstad; and sisters, Alice Gunderson, Emma Carter and Myrna Ringstad.
Thanks to the staff at Good Samaritan for making Mom&8217;s life so meaningful this last year.
Mavis loved to cook, eat and sing. She always made people smile and made sure she gave everyone a big hug.
