A.L. ninth grade team 2-2 to start season

The Albert Lea ninth grade baseball team opened its schedule last Tuesday against Faribault in a doubleheader.

Faribault took game one 15-8, but the Tigers&8217; bats were hot.

Cory Hansen went 2-for-5 with 3 RBI, Cole Sorenson went 1-for-2 with 2 RBI, JT Bellrichard had a 2-for-3 day with 3 RBI and Caleb Gaudin went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.

In game two Faribault continued to overpower Albert Lea 10-3.

Carter Kortan led the offense with two hits, Sorenson went 1-for-2 and AJ Dugstad went 1-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Kortan pitched five innings, struck out seven and scattered seven hits for the loss.

The Tigers got back on track Thursday April 17 against Winona as the offense knocked in 11 runs for a 11-7 win.

Aaron Klatt

led the way, going 4-for-4 and scoring three times. Klatt also picked up the win. He threw five innings, allowed four hits and struck out three.

Albert Lea picked up another victory Saturday April 19 against Rochester Mayo.

The Tigers offense stayed hot, knocking in 9 runs for a 9-3 win at Rochester.

Connor Kortan and Josh Eisenbraun both went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.

Carter Kortan picked up his first win of the season. He pitched seven innings, scattered seven hits and struck out three.

&8220;Carter was in complete control of his game from beginning to end,&8221; coach Jeff Jimenez said.
