After a promising 2-0 start this season the Albert Lea baseball team has now dropped six straight to fall to 2-6 after being blanked by Mankato West 7-0 Tuesday in Mankato.

The Tigers trailed just 3-0 heading to the bottom of the sixth before West took advantage of three costly Albert Lea errors and scored four more for the 7-0 win.

&8220;Up to that point, even though we didn&8217;t hit the ball very well, we were still in the game,&8221; said Tigers head coach Joe Sczublewski. &8220;That&8217;s the way it is in the game of baseball, you take advantage of the opportunities and that&8217;s what they did with our errors.&8221;

Anthony Tippett went the distance for the Tigers in taking the loss, but he was also the only Albert Lea player to collect a hit on the day, a double in the seventh inning.

The Tigers will be hard-pressed to break out of their slump anytime soon as they host an undefeated Rochester Mayo team (7-0) Thursday afternoon at Albert Lea&8217;s Hayek Field.
