A loss is tough to take anytime, but when it happens because of giving up five runs in the last inning to a Rochester school it makes it even worse.
That&8217;s what happened to the Albert Lea softball team Monday afternoon when it dropped its Big Nine match-up 7-3 against Rochester Mayo.
The Tigers clawed out five hits through six innings and took a 3-2 advantage into the top of the seventh. Up to that point Disarray Jacobs had held the Mayo offense in check with three strikeouts and seven walks but it all came crashing down in the top of the seventh.
The Spartans pushed five runs across the plate in their final at bat to steal what looked like a sure win for the Tigers.
