Carol Toft, 88, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Carol Toft, 88, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at First Lutheran Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate.
Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Home in Albert Lea and one hour before services at the church.
Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Ellendale.
Carol died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at Thorne Crest Retirement Center.
Carol was born Oct. 13, 1919 to Irvin and Cora (Gunderson) Toft. She attended school in Ellendale. She graduated in 1937 as valedictorian. She received a bachelor of science degree from Mankato State College and a master of arts degree from the University of Minnesota. She started teaching in a country school, then went to Adams, Mountain Lake and St. James. She began teaching in Albert Lea at Northside School in 1946 and then from 1953 until her retirement in 1983, she taught at Hawthorne School.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Ellendale all her life, the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma, the Albert Lea Art Center and Retired Teachers association. She enjoyed music, reading and art.
She is survived by four brothers and one sister: Gordon Toft of Owatonna, Charles (Marge) Toft of Spring Valley, Kenneth (Evie) Toft of Ellendale, Phyllis Toft of California and Paul (Shirley) Toft of Arizona, and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irvin and Cora Toft; sister Olive; brother James; and a sister, Grace, in infancy.
