Dorothy Hershey, 86 of Albert Lea

Memorial services for Dorothy Helen Hershey, 86, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Dorothy died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Good Samaritan Center.
Dorothy Helen Hershey was born on Nov. 17, 1921 to Adolph and Ella (Mielke) Seeger in Myrtle. Olga Mielke, sister of Ella, was a midwife who delivered Dorothy. She grew up working on the family farm, cooking, cleaning and caring for her parents. On Jan. 3, 1940 she was united in marriage to Raymond Hershey at the First Lutheran Parsonage. Dorothy spent her entire life as a homemaker. She was also a very good seamstress. Dorothy enjoyed bowling and was an excellent card player. She enjoyed spending time with her family at their cabin. Dorothy was a member of First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea and also a member of the Moose Club.
Survivors include her son Robert &8220;Bob&8221; Hershey of Albert Lea; grandsons, Eric, David, and Brian Hershey; great-grandchildren, Cody, Tyler, Nathan and Cheyenne; sisters-in-law, Hazel Wheeldon of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Irma Slocum of Vancouver, Wash.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; brothers, Wilbur, Wesley and Kenneth Seeger.
