The bats came through for the Alden-Conger baseball team, unfortunately good defense did not figure into the equation.

The Knights dropped a 10 inning game 11-10 Monday at Northrop against Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain because of a lack of fundamentals in the field.

&8220;At this level, winning games is difficult when too many mistakes are made,&8221; coach Bret Sindelir said. &8220;At times we lacked focus and it ultimately cost us the game.&8221;

Matt Bremseth and David Troska kept Alden-Conger in the game with their bats as they both went 3-for-5 at the plate. Bremseth hammered a two-run shot for the Knights.

Lucas Kleinschrodt started for Alden-Conger and gave up 10 runs and struck out five. Sindelir described his outing as commendable given the lack of support in the field.

The Knights will try to redeem themselves tonight at home against St. Clair.
