NRHEG softball loses low scoring affair 2-1

Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton edgedout the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva softball team 2-1 Monday with runs in the first and third innings.

The Bulldogs grabbed the lead when a lead-off walk came around to score on an RBI single.

The Panthers (1-4 overall, 1-1 Gopher) tied the game in the second when pitcher Kate Quam scored on single by Paige Schlaak.

JWP answered in the third when another walked batter came home.

Nakita Coonrod earned the victory for the Bulldogs as she struck out 12 NRHEG batters and only walked three.

Quam struck out eight hitter, but walked nine. Quam also led the offense with two hits, one of which was a double.
