USC/AC track second, NRHEG third at Maple River Invitational

Consistent scoring rewarded the United South Central/Alden-Conger girls&8217; track team a second place finish Tuesday at the Maple River Invite.
The Rebels scored in all but two events and finished with 102 points, second only to Blue Earth which scored 136.75.
Sophomore Brianna Gormley got USC/AC off on the right foot when she won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.33, earning 10 points. Gormley also finished third in the 200 meter for another six points.
Junior Carolyn Schmitz added another 10 points in the pole vault, clearing 9 feet.
New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva also participated in the meet and finished one spot back of the Rebels with 79.75 points.
Freshman Alyssa Kerkoff battled with Gormley the majority of the meet. Kerkoff finished runner-up to Gormley in the 100 meter, but bested Gormley in the 200 for a second place finish. Then in the 400 meter Kerkoff came through with a win by clocking a 1:01.23 in the race. Gormley finished four seconds behind for sixth place.
