The Albert Lea K-6 youth wrestling team wrestled tough competition at the Region 2 Team Tournament and earned a trip to the Northland Youth Wrestling Association State Wrestling Tournament this weekend at the Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

The young Tigers also qualified 22 invididual wrestlers: In grades 1-2 were Nicolas Cantu at 45 pounds, Tyler Robran at 50 pounds, Jessie Hernandez at 61 pounds, Zach Glazier at 65 pounds and Tyler Harms at 70 pounds. In grades 3-4 were Garrett Aldrich at 60 pounds, Jacob Thompson at 80 pounds, Ethan Choronzy at 110 pounds. In 5-6 grades were Beau Johnsrud at 65 pounds, Tyler Trihus at 93 pounds, Jacob Tyler at 102 pounds and Tristan Westerlund at 115 pounds.

The 7-8 grade qualifiers were Dakota Wangness at 80 pounds, Tyler Nelson at 85 pounds, Lucas Hansen at 90 pounds, Trey Hable at 100 pounds, Dalton Westerlund at 115 pounds, Brody Sunblad at 125 pounds, Jace Talamantes at 130 pounds and Dustin Samudio at 150 pounds.
