Beatrice Lura

Beatrice “Bea” Lura, 96, of Bricelyn, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiester. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. The Rev. Chris Fiske will officiate and burial will be in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery, Seely Township, Faribault County.
Beatrice Lura was born Aug. 4, 1911, in Story County, Iowa, to Andrew and Hannah (Satre) Anderson. She moved with her family to Brush Creek when she was six. She graduated high school in Bricelyn in 1930. On Feb. 18, 1940, she married Leon Lura. The two farmed for four decades mostly southwest of Kiester retiring in 1980 when they moved to Bricelyn. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bea was a Sunday school teacher and an active member of the women’s groups. She was the first Chairman of the Altar Guild. After retiring, she became a member of the Senior Citizens organization and joined the quilting club. She also enjoyed sewing throughout her lifetime for her family and others.
Bea is survived by her granddaughters: Dana (Dan) Baxter of Alabaster, Ala., and Dagny “Doni” (Mike) Hallabrin of Cardington, Ohio; grandson: Derek Espeland of Anchorage, Ala.; great-grandchildren: Hannah, Sarah, Michael, Allison, Dinah, Racine, Jimmy, Louisa Mae, Maggie, and Lauren; and sister: Doris Dellinger of Thousand Oaks, Calif.
She is preceded in death by her husband Leon; daughter and son-in-law, Johanna and Roger Espeland; great granddaughter Brooke Jordan Baxter.
