Eileen A. Helgeson, 86, of Lake Mills, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. David E. Jordon officiating. Burial will take place in Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills.
Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street in Lake Mills, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.
Eileen Angeline (Rovang) Helgeson was born on Oct. 19, 1921, near Kiester, to parents Clifford and Alma (Ecklund) Rovang.
On March 16, 1941, Eileen was united in marriage with Harry G. Helgeson at the Emmons Lutheran Church in Emmons. The family lived in Lake Mills, where Eileen was a homemaker who loved to keep busy.
Eileen enjoyed gardening and bird watching, was an avid entertainer for her family and friends, and she appreciated the fine arts including music, reading poetry and novels. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Sharry Olson and her husband, Curtis of Albert Lea; a son, Robert Helgeson and his wife, Kathy of LaQuinta, Calif.; two grandchildren, Jason Helgeson of Dallas, Texas, and Jon Olson and his wife, Julie of Wayzata; five great-grandchildren, Delaney Helgeson, Hagen Helgeson, Janaye Helgeson, Robert &8220;Bert&8221; Olson, and Tillie Olson; a sister, Zona Mae Marpe and her husband, Roger of Emmons; brother- and sisters-in-law, Milford (Doris) Helgeson and Verna Helgeson, all of Lake Mills; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harry in 1983; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Stanley and Neoma Helgeson, Kurtis Helgeson, Truman and Phyllis Helgeson, and Vernon and Barbara Helgeson; and a niece, Linda Helgeson.
