Glenville golfer comes within two strokes of state

Glenville-Emmons senior golfer Jenny Johnson concluded a strong season by missing out on a state tournament appearance by just two strokes Thursday at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City.

Johnson has led the Wolverines girls&8217; golf team in scoring all season and shot a season-best 98, but missed the cut by two strokes.

Glenville-Emmons also sent Brianna Nelson to the meet and she shot a 112.

Cody Huston was the only member of the boys&8217; team to appear at the

tournament and he finished with a 105.

&8220;They did well to get over to sections,&8221; Wolverines head coach Craig Rayman said. &8220;I&8217;m proud of what they accomplished.&8221;

Johnson will graduate this year and Rayman is left with Nelson and Huston who became proven players over the course of the season with their improving play, and they want to continue to get even better for next season.

&8220;The kids already said on the way home they&8217;re looking forward to golfing next season,&8221; Rayman said.
