The 19th annual Battle of the Books was held May 6 in the Albert Lea High School auditorium. All sixth-grade students in District 241 were bused to the high school to attend this event to support their building team and the love of reading.

In the fall of the year, all sixth-grade students were introducted to 11 selections in Division II of the Maud Hart Lovelace Minnesota Young Readers&8217; 2007-08 Award by their building media specialists.

Throughout the year, the students were encouraged by their teachers to read these books and submit questions for this annual contest. It was a close contest. Halverson Elementary ended the contest with the highest score. Sibley Elementary was awarded the Leah Staloch Memorial Award for Sportsmanship.
