Memorial service for Lyle &8220;Tom&8221; Dickson of Clarks Grove will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Lyndy West and Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Friends may visit with family one hour before service at the church. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Cancer Fund or Grace Lutheran Church.
Lyle &8220;Tom&8221; Dickson died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at his home in Clarks Grove. He was 68 years old.
Tom was born in Greenleaf, Kan., on June 11, 1939, the son of Hiram and Ocie (Latham) Dickson. He was raised in Washington, Kan., and graduated from Washington High School in 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. Tom was married Jan. 5, 1963, in Washington, Kan., to Sharon Lampe.
They moved to Omaha, Neb., where he was employed with Wilson & Co. from 1963-1976. He transferred to Albert Lea in 1976 where he finished up his 43 year career in food service. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church. Tom had been a member of the Eagles Club in Albert Lea.
Tom enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and playing pool.
Tom is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon, of Clarks Grove; children: Shelly Dickson of Woodbury, Kelly (Amy) Dickson of Atlanta, Ga., and Scott (Suzanne) Dickson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Fern Lampe of Lincoln, Neb.; brother-in-law, E. Gibson of Washington, Kan.; and nieces and nephews.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Ocie Dickson.
