The lineup was a big letdown for the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva baseball team Thursday in its Section 2AA playoff game against Holy Family in Victoria.

The Panthers finished the season with an overall record of 7-12, but couldn&8217;t piece together hits in key situations to score runs in a 5-1 loss.

NRHEG scored its lone run in the fifth inning when Payden Peterson came around on a two-out single up the middle by Luke Forester.

The Panthers had seven hits in the game, but never really threatened in the game.

&8220;Their pitcher wasn&8217;t overpowering,&8221; NRHEG head coach Jeff Reese said. &8220;Our hitting just went south.&8221;

The Panthers struck out seven times in the game with ace Dakota Tracy on the mound.

Tracy went seven innings and gave up five runs on 12 hits, only two of the runs were earned.

&8220;They did hit the ball well,&8221; Reese said. &8220;We just didn&8217;t execute.&8221;

The loss concluded a frustrating season for Reese and his squad as a thin pitching rotation was stretched even thinner when inclement weather forced the team to play make-up games in a short time.&8221;

&8220;We knew the pitching didn&8217;t have much depth,&8221; Reese said. &8220;We definitely need to work harder.&8221;
