Roger L. Stoner returned to his heavenly father on May 6, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born on Aug. 9, 1939 in Albert Lea where he lived until he joined the Marines at the age of 18. After his three years of service in the Marines, Roger went back to Minnesota for a short time, and then moved to Florida to go to college to become a diesel mechanic. After college he moved to San Diego, Calif., and started working.
After a two-year job in Fredonia, Ariz., building the flood dike, Roger met Gina through friends and also while she was waitressing at Nedras. Soon after, Roger married the love of his life, Regina Ann Bundy on Dec. 14, 1973 in Encinitas, Calif. After their marriage, Roger and Gina lived in San Diego, Calif., where they remained for 30 years until his retirement in 2004, when they moved back to Gina&8217;s hometown of Fredonia.
Roger worked as a heavy duty mechanic welder for 30 years.
Roger loved to do so many things, but he truly felt that he was blessed by the birth of his three children. He loved his wife and his children with all his heart and worked hard to provide for them. Those who knew Roger always could tell when he was in the room by his sense of humor. He loved to work with his hands and was very good at woodworking, auto mechanics, gardening, and any job that he could find to do around the house.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel F. Stoner and Corina E. Stoner.
Roger is survived by his wife, Gina Stoner; his three children Devlin (Shana) Stoner, Kody Stoner, and Shasta Stoner; one grandchild Cason Stoner, all of whom live in Fredonia; his brother Dale (Virgina) Stoner, Kan.; his sisters Sondra Allen, Connie (Gaylerd) Miller, Kan., Jackie (Delwen) Miller, Kan.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services were held in Fredonia, Ariz., on Friday at the LDS Chapel. He was interred at Fredonia Cemetery under the direction of Mosdell Mortuary.
