Autism bowling fundraiser at Holiday Lanes Saturday
Published 9:15 am Wednesday, June 11, 2008
An autism bowling fundraiser will be held at the Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley on Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. It will be a bowling competition between the Albert Lea Police, Fire and Sheriff’s departments. Money raised from this event will go towards helping autistic children in Freeborn County and their families.
This event is open to the public and you do not have to bowl to come and enjoy the day. It will be fun to watch the bowlers to see which department will take home the big trophy.
There will be four open lanes for any children with Autism and their siblings to bowl for free that day. Children need to be accompanied by an adult and will need to sign up that day to bowl.
There will be a snack table selling pizza, pop, chips, candy and mini doughnuts. There will be a bake sale that will have delicious baked goods for sale and you can also purchase raffle ticket for a chance to win prizes.
Many Albert Lea businesses have been very generous in donating prizes for the raffle. So far there are over 40 prizes to give away. The raffle tickets will sell for $1 a ticket. You do not need to be present to win the prizes. Any prizes not picked up that day will be left at the bowling alley and will need to be picked up within a week.
Here is a list of some of the prizes we have to give away: a $50 savings bond from Home Federal Savings Bank, pool passes for the Aquatic Center, Starbucks coffee, food gift certificates from Godfathers, Pizza Hut, Jakes Pizza, Arby’s, Lakeside Café and K & K Bakery, one free nights stay at the Ramada Inn in Albert Lea, Minnesota Zoo tickets donated from KATE Radio, hats & other prizes donated from Wells Fargo, coolers, toys, bats and balls donated by Lou Rich and Dave Syverson Ford and many more wonderful prizes.
