Bricelyn’s annual Fourth of July weekend celebration is set up to be another weekend of fun for all ages.

With many events planned including dances, sports tournaments, a parade and a community worship — to name a few — there’s a little something for everyone.

New this year will be a presentation by the India Children’s Choir, a 22-member choir who is on a 10-month tour of the United States.

During their presentation, the children will perform a musical drama that tells the story of their people’s transformation from being fierce headhunters just two generations ago to now being ambassadors for Christ.

Also new to the weekend of festivities is the Bricelyn Chicken Run, which includes a 5K run/walk and a 1-mile run for children ages 12 and under.

The event will start at Bricelyn’s community park at 8:30 a.m. July 5 for children and at 9 a.m. for everybody else.

Cost is $12 for the 5K with early registration and $15 on the day of the race. Cost is $10 for the kids mile. Bricelyn kids age 12 and under are $5.

T-shirts will be awarded to all participants, along with age division prizes for both races and a trophy to the overall men’s and women’s winners in both races.

Winners may also ride and be recognized in the parade if they choose.

Refreshments and awards will be given shortly after the race.

People interested in registering for the event can mail an entry form and payment to Chicken Run, Bricelyn Community Club, Box 294, Bricelyn, MN 56014. Early registration must be postmarked by June 27.
