Construction picks up

Warmer weather has resulted in more building in both the city and county, according to their May reports.
The City of Albert Lea Inspection Department issued 76 permits with a valuation of $3,038,237 during May. This increases the total valuation for city permits issued during the first five months of the year to $5,262,069.
At the end of May 2007 the city’s report shows a valuation of $15,196,450 for permits issued.
A permit with a valuation of $1,500,000 has been issued to Pro Trucking Inc., 20789 780th Ave., for the construction of a 102 foot by 247 foot warehouse and office building.
School District 241 was issued a permit in May with a valuation of $363,000 for an interior remodeling project at Southwest Middle School, 1601 W. Front St.
Alamco Wood Products, 1410 W. Ninth St., has been issued a permit with a valuation of $99,134 for the installation of a new roof.
A building permit was issued during May to Rehnelt and Dorman Construction with a valuation of $80,130 for a 30 foot by 260 foot storage building at 2610 Hi Tec Drive.
Motor Inn Inc., 2114 E. Main St., was issued a permit with a valuation of $65,000 for remodeling in a storage building.
A kitchen remodeling project at Salem Lutheran Church, 115 N. Washington Ave., resulted in the issuance of a permit valued at $50,000 during May.
A permit with a valuation of $335,000 was issued during May for the construction of a duplex on Hale Drive.
The Freeborn County Planning and Zoning Office issued 22 permits with a listed valuation of $1,460,849 during May. This increases the estimated valuation for permits during the first five months of the year to $2,468,146.
Six of the May building permits were for new homes and two were for home additions. A county permit with a valuation of $95,000 was also issued to Patrick Bute of Alden for a flower shop.
