Andrew Schewe, 15, of Albert Lea, has earned the highest advancement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to scouts, the Eagle Award.
Schewe was recognized in a ceremony on May 13 at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.
A member of Troop 105, chartered by the Knights of Columbus organization of Albert Lea, Schewe is one of about 2 percent of all Boy Scouts who attain the Eagle rank, according to Andrew’s former Scoutmaster John Riedlinger.
Each candidate must earn 21 merit badges and successfully complete a community or church-related service project to earn his Eagle. Andrew chose to build a shed for a local Habitat for Humanity house.
Schewe is a member of First Lutheran Church and attends Albert Lea High School as a freshman.
He is the son of Howard and Julie Schewe of Albert Lea.
