Freeborn Days
Published 9:50 am Thursday, June 12, 2008
This weekend is the annual Freeborn Days celebration. Another three great days of family, fun and friends await guests and visitors of this annual event! The community has a lot of things planned to keep people of all ages busy throughout the action-packed weekend.
As always, the citywide garage sales will draw a large number of visitors from all across the southern Minnesota and northern Iowa area. There will be treasures of many kinds available to those early morning shoppers, who should stop in at the free breakfast and pick up a map to locate the many rummage sales that will be held on Saturday.
There will, of course, be lots of food to choose from over the weekend, with the delicious Saturday night pork chop dinner at the Freeborn Fire Department and the tasty lunch being served by the church youth group on Sunday morning, following services.
The youth group is raising funds, in order to attend the National Youth Event in Nashville, Tenn. They welcome the public to participate in the Sunday morning church service at 11 a.m. and then join them for the lunch. Any or all donations for their trip would be gratefully accepted.
Golfers will appreciate getting out and onto the greens during the Saturday golf tournament organized at the Oak View Golf Course in rural Freeborn. Anyone who would like to contact the golf course about the event should call (507) 863-2288 or Jim Beach at (507) 863-2477.
Anyone wishing more information about the Freeborn Days may contact Val Seipp at (507) 863-2204, who would be glad to answer your questions.
