Gladys Peterson

Funeral services for Gladys Jane Peterson, 64, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of Christ. The Rev. Michael Gerhardt will officiate. Interment will be at the Geneva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Gladys died Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Gladys Jane Peterson was born on Dec. 30, 1943, to Leo and Jean (Koranda) Simonson in Baudette. She attended District No. 82 until 6th grade and then attended Ellendale Schools. Gladys married LeRoy Peterson on June 9, 1962, at the Geneva Community Lutheran Church. She was a housewife and was also employed by the Broadway Board and Care as a Home Health Aide. In 1974 she joined the Albert Lea Church of Christ. Gladys loved people and enjoyed helping others, always putting them first before herself. She loved spending time with her grandchildren. Gladys also loved all animals and enjoyed cards (Hand & Foot), gardening, fishing, and houseplants. Gladys lived her life by the motto JOY (Jesus, Others, Yourself).
Survivors include her mother, Jean (Lee) Johnson; her husband, LeRoy Peterson of Albert Lea; sons, Kevin (Diane) Peterson of Albert Lea and Darrin (Sue) Peterson of Chatfield; grandchildren, Skylar Peterson and his mother Teresa, Danielle, Jessica, Nicole and Jacob Peterson; brother, Vernon (Jeanne) Simonson of Clarks Grove; sister, Lori Simonson of Clarks Grove; brother-in-law, Ed Eisel of Aurora, Colo.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Gladys was preceded in death by her father, Leo Simonson; son, Jamie Peterson; sister Bonita Eisel; mother and father-in-law, Ferris and Eleanor Peterson; and niece, Lori Matejcek.
