A Buick Century with an elderly man driving it veered during a left turn Tuesday afternoon and crashed into the United Employees Credit Union’s landscaping near its sign.
The man was turning from Bridge Avenue onto Marshall Street.
Albert Lea Police Department officer Ted Herman said no one was injured seriously. An ambulance crew came to the scene and took the man to Albert Lea Medical Center to be checked.
The Buick did a number on the landscaping, and it did scrape a pole for a traffic light.
Matt Maras, president of United Employees Credit Union, said the landscaping was installed last summer and he spent time weeding it just last weekend. He joked he needs to remind people the drive-through is on the back side of the building.
