Funeral services for Mary L. Stanley of Hayward will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hayward Lutheran Church. The Rev. John R. Malm will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before service at the church.
Mary died Monday, June 23, 2008, following a long illness at her home in Hayward. She was surrounded by her loving family. Mary was 61 years old.
Mary was born in Naeve Hospital in Albert Lea on Jan. 17, 1947, the daughter of Harold and Marleda (Attig) Wittmer. She lived in rural Albert Lea and then in rural Geneva from 1951 to 1966, and graduated from Ellendale High School in 1965. She went to Mankato Beauty School from 1965–1966. She then lived in Albert Lea from 1966-1968 before moving to Hayward and living there until the present time.
Mary was married to Randy Ruble Dec. 20, 1966, at Geneva Lutheran Church. To this union three children were born, Jayson, Sam and Sue. She later married Larry Stanley on June 23, 1981.
Mary had worked at Queen’s, Good Samaritan Center, Streater and Cedar Valley Services. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many special friends.
Mary is survived by her children: Jayson (Roxanne) Ruble of Hayward, Sam (Dan) O’Rourke of Albert Lea, Sue (Jim) Hoiseth of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Stephanie (Scott) Abernath whom she raised, Michael, Brandon, Ashton, Hannah and Nicholas; great grandchildren: Tav’n and Jordas; sister: Sharon Hemenway of Albert Lea; brothers: Jim Wittmer of Miltona, Roger (Barb) Wittmer of Osakis, Dan (Anita) Wittmer of Parkers Prairie; special friend, Ted Anderson of Minneapolis; several step children; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Other survivors include: brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and Terissa Cotten, who had been a special part of Mary’s life.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Marleda and Harold Wittmer; husband, Larry; step son Jerry Michael; and a nephew.
