Merle Froendt

Memorial service for Merle William Froendt of Glenville will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville. Visitation with the family will be one hour before the service.
Merle died on Monday, June 9, 2008, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 69 years old.
Merle was born in Spirit Lake, Iowa, on Oct. 29, 1938, the son of William C. and Thelma L. (George) Froendt He graduated from Okoboji High School in Milford, Iowa, in 1956. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1958 to 1962. Merle was married to Elaine M. Bergland on July 27, 1971, in Glenville.
Merle lived in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Milford, Iowa, before moving to Glenville. He retired from Bridon Cordage after 30 years of service.
Merle enjoyed hunting and fishing and was very mechanical. He was a jack of all trades and would help anyone that needed it. He also enjoyed being the daycare for his grandsons.
Merle is survived by his wife of 36 years, Elaine Froendt of Glenville; children: Bill (Kim) Froendt and children, Jared and Callie, Lyn (AL) Hicks and children Natasha, Chandel, Cole, Shannon (Jeri) Froendt and children Mike, Nicole, Samantha, Derek, Jackie (Gary) Anderson and children Brooke and Roselyn, Michelle (Travis) Jacobsen and children Dillon, Gage, Cam; one great granddaughter, Cambrie; sister: Marjorie Schneidawind; sister-in-law: Dora Froendt; brother-in-law: Ron Albert; special family members: Brian Fredrickson, Mary Allison, JoAnn Lien; special friends: Janie and Terry Folie, Paul (Ronnie) and Mona Blee, and Tamie Brock; many nieces and nephews.
Merle was preceded in death by his parents: William & Thelma Froendt; brother: Melvin Froendt; sister: Irma Albert.
