The Nordic Doll Club had a very enjoyable visit to First Lutheran Church June 13 for the salad luncheon. Norrine Jensen provided the piano music and sang “Seterjentens Sunday” and “Den Store Hvide Flok.” Debra Stolarcek sang the solo, “Pal pa Haugen.” A favorite of the audience was “There is nothing like a Cod.”
Barb Solberg, hardanger specialist, and LaVaun Ausen, sewing and pattern specialist, also joined in the singing. Ausen also won a blue ribbon on her 18-inch doll hardanger bunad at the Sons of Norway convention in Mankato that day. The Story Lady Doll & Toy Museum is selling the club’s doll bunads and dolls. The group talked about its sewing and how the Nordic Doll Club was organized by Karen Mandsager in 2005, the Sons of Norway lodge centennial year.
The club is now working on the Sognefjord bunad as Sognefjord Bygdlag will meet at the loccal lodge in August. Meetings will resume again in September.
