Funeral services for Richard Lillico Myers, 60, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Freeborn County Veterans organizations. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service.
Richard died June 9, 2008, at his home following a short battle with cancer.
Richard Lillico Myers was born on Sept. 3, 1947, to Robert Louis and Margaret Marion (Lillico) Myers in Albert Lea, with great rejoicing for a boy after three girls. Rick was a lifelong resident of Albert Lea and was a 1966 graduate of Albert Lea High School. Rick attended Austin Junior College and received an Associate Degree there. He went on to St. Cloud State majoring in business. Rick served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. He was united in marriage to Karen Wells on Sept. 2, 2000, in Red Wing. The couple owned and operated Myers Trucking Company. Rick enjoyed life on the road. He had a marvelous sense of humor and a positive attitude toward life. Rick had various hobbies including waterskiing, welding, and scuba diving. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. Rick was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shriner’s, and the Elks Lodge of Albert Lea. Rick especially loved his wife, his children, his family and his truck.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; children, Paula Myers and partner Rita Rehome-Myers of Salem, Ore., and Robert Myers and his wife Meridith of Redmond, Ore.; step-children, Bryce Wells of Homestead, Fla., and Korrin (Clint) Crossno of Spring Hill, Tenn.; granddaughter, Ashley Allen of Salem. Ore.; mother, Margaret Myers of Albert Lea; sisters, Judith Kinsey and husband Jim of West Concord, Janet Nafe and husband Bill of Hager City, Wis., and Susan Gerber and husband Bob of Minnetonka; several nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Myers of Albert Lea.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.
