Carolyn Troe

Funeral services for Carolyn (Carrie) Troe of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker and the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Bonnerup Funeral Service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Carolyn died Friday evening at the St John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. She was 91 years old.
Carolyn was born May 18, 1917, in Mankato the daughter of George and Lulu (Cowles) Flanagan. She attended public school in Albert Lea. On June 2, 1932, she was united in marriage to Ole M. Troe in Iowa.
Carolyn was a member of the First Lutheran Church. After her husband’s death, Carrie was a child care provider for families in their homes. She loved sports including the Twins, Vikings and NASCAR. She was a long time member of an “Uff Da Band” enjoyed dancing, reading, cooking (cakes from scratch) was a member of the Story Lady Doll & Toy Museum, the Freeborn County Historical Museum and the Sons of Norway Lodge.
Carolyn is survived by her children; Carol and her husband Roger Olson of Albert Lea, Gerald and his wife Laraine Troe of Albert Lea. There are five grandchildren: Greg (Kim) Olson, Jay Troe, Jon (Denise) Troe, Chad (Penny) Troe and Barbara Troe. There are 10 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ole, son Melvin, three grandchildren; Mary Ann Bridgewater, Jeff Troe and Kimberly (Olson) Goddard. Also preceding her were five brothers and five sisters.
