Last year street construction on Broadway in New Richland rearranged events and changed the format slightly for Farm & City Days, this year July 10 through July 13, but with the city back to normal the event is back on schedule and relocated uptown, said Chairwoman Amy Ihrke.
Farm & City Days kicks off Thursday, July 10 with a carnival from 4 to 10 p.m. on Broadway Avenue. Then it is New Richland Idol at 7 p.m. at the American Legion, where the city’s stars can really shine. There will be a street dance Friday from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. with music from the band Whiskey Rose. Admission is $5 or free with a Farm & City Days button.
This year the buttons were designed by fourth-grader Marissa Mortenson, daughter of Donny and Holly Mortenson.
“It’s a very fun little picture,” Ihrke said, adding the buttons have had drawings from students for the past four years.
The carnival lasts all weekend and ends Saturday.
