Freeborn County under severe thunderstorm warning

Freeborn County was under a severe thunderstorm warning until 2:15 p.m. in the southeastern part of the county, according to the National Weather Service.

At 1:30 p.m., the Weather Service spotted a storm capable of producing nickel-sized hail and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. At that time, the storm was 8 miles south of Glenville or 14 miles south of Albert Lea, moving northeast at 37 mph.

Glenville and Myrtle are in the direct line of the storm, according to the National Weather Service.

Storms are expected throughout the area until 3 p.m., with more storms possibly developing across south central Minnesota, according to the weather service. Some storms can be severe, with isolated tornadoes possible.

The National Weather Service said most of the thunderstorms will move out of the area by 10 p.m.
