July Jubilee starts Friday

This year’s July Jubilee this weekend is jam-packed full of activities for all ages.

With events like sidewalk sales, bake sales and art shows kicking off the weekend early Friday morning, festivities continue into the night Friday with the Little Mr. and Miss contest, Silverado’s Street dance and a free teen dance.

On Saturday, there will be a 5K run and walk, an antique tractor parade, a parade and a community picnic, to name a few. Highlights also include Bert and Ernie’s Skate Series Competition, an ATV Mud Bog, pool tournaments, alumni softball games and a “Guitar Hero” contest.

On Sunday there will be a pancake and sausage breakfast, a classic car and motorcycle show, geocaching and quilt show judging.

All weekend there will be an art show at Mills Harbour, a quilt show at Lake Mills Care Center and a rendezvous on South Mill.

There will also be free entertainment, 3-on-3 basketball games and karaoke, among many other activities.

Friday:

– 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Sidewalk sales

– 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Bake sale and rummage sale at Civic Center

– 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Art show at Mills Harbour

– 6 p.m.: Silverado’s beer garden opens

– 6 p.m.: Little Mr. and Miss contest: Street dance area on North Mill Street

– 8 p.m. to midnight: Silverado’s street dance

– 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.: Free teen dance at sports complex, sponsored by

– 9 p.m.: DJ/Karaoke at Cruiser’s Route 69.

Saturday:

– 7 a.m.: Registration for the 5K Run and Walk.

– 7:30 a.m.: 5K Run and Walk begins. Start at Stutzman Physical Therapy, 110 N. Washington St. Registration forms available at www.lakemillsiowa.com.

– 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Sidewalk sales

– 9 a.m.: Flea and craft vendors on N. First Ave. W. in front of Chamber Development office

– 9:30 a.m.: Antique tractor parade

– 10:30 a.m.: Parade (contact the LMCDC office at (641) 592-5253) Lineup along Highway 105.

– 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Community picnic at Oakwood Park

– 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.: Inflatable games at Oakwood Park

– 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.: FFA silent auction at Oakwood Park

– Noon: ATV Mud Bog registration at N. Ninth Avenue E.

– Noon to 3 p.m.: Free entertainment in Oakwood Park

– Noon to 4 p.m.: Art show at Mills Harbour

Sunday:

– 8 a.m. to noon: Ambulance pancake/sausage breakfast at Lake Mills Community School foyer

– 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Radio-controlled air show at the airport

– 10 a.m.: Registration for the classic car and motorcycle show — Mill Street and N. First Ave. W.

– 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Classic car show

– 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Design your own T-shirt at Pit Stop Printing

– Noon to 4 p.m.: Art show and tours at Mill Harbour

– 1 to 3 p.m.: Tours of Victorian House Museum and Country School Museum

– 1 p.m.: Geo Caching at Arlington Park, limited GPS systems available.

– 1:45 p.m.: Judging

– 2 p.m.: Cruise

– 3 p.m.: Quilt show judging at Lake Mills Care Center

– 8:30 to 11:30 p.m.: Free teen dance, sponsored by Cummins Filtration, at sports complex
