The Albert Lea Knights U-10 Baseball team traveled to Brooklyn Park for the 28 team Tournament of Champions July 11-13. The first game of the tournament the Knights played Andover and won 7-1 in four innings. The game was called due to lightning. Saturday the locals played Princeton and won 6-2. The Knights next played Little Falls to become the pool play winner.
Albert Lea scored three runs in the first inning and held a 3-2 lead into the fourth. But Little Falls rallied and beat the Knights 10-3.  The 10 runs allowed that game affected Albert Lea’s chances to make it to bracket play.  The Knights allowed 13 runs, but another squad allowed only seven runs and advanced as a wild card in the tie-breaker.  The Knights were next in line.
Little Falls, who had only lost one game the whole year ended up finishing second behind Minnetonka.
The Knights traveled to Apple Valley Friday for the Minnesota Baseball Tournament Championships and will play Cloquet at 1 p.m.

Saturday, they played Shakopee Black at 10:30 a.m. and Mankato Royals Gold at 2:30 p.m. The top two teams from the bracket advanced and played at 5 p.m.

The Knights Baseball Club was formed in 2006 to provide youth in Albert Lea and surrounding communities the opportunity to learn and play baseball in a fun and positive environment.

The Club is focused on giving youth a chance to develop baseball skills and knowledge and love for the game. They also seek to instill the team concept as well as sportsmanship and respect for coaches, umpires, and teammates.

The Knights are a competitive, traveling baseball organization that requires a significant time commitment from players, coaches, and parents from April through July. After the summer tryouts, the new teams formed for next year practice five-to-six times from the middle of August into September.

On July 26 the Albert Lea Knights will be conducting tryouts for 7, 8, and 9-year-olds from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Snyder Fields. Immediately following will be tryouts for 10 and 11-year-olds from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. There will be a 7 and 8-year-old coach pitch team, a U-9 team, a U-10 team, and an U-11 team for the 2009 season.
