Litomysl’s 37th annual Summer Festival is Sunday

Holy Trinity Catholic Church at Litomysl’s 140 families of the parish will host their 37th annual Litomsyl Summer Festival Sunday.
This country-styie festival draws thousands of people to the community’s annual fund raiser that hetps support the preschool through fifth grade schooi, St Isidore’s School. (St. Isidore is the patron saint of farmers).
On Sunday, July 27, at 10 a.m., a Polka Mass with the “Litomysianeous Group” begins the festivities. The Owatonna Knights of Coiumbus Council 945’s Fourth Degree Knights will be a part of the Mass also. At 11 a.m. all the outside activities begin, which include food booths with pork rib sandwiches, pork burgers, brats, root beer floats, cheese nachos, cotton candy, and refreshments to drink; a flea market, along with a silent auction in the school; a country store with garden produce; and many children’s and adult games.
Local businesses and individuals have donated thousands of prizes, which will be used for selling chances on, for children’s games prizes and for the ever-popular root beer barrel game. Among the prizes are a toy wooden barn and cut glass from the Czech Republic, and many more wonderful items. The annual “Big Ticket” raffle, which has 90 prizes (with a value of over $4,000), will be drawn at 5 p.m.
A shaved ham or turkey sandwich meal with potato salad, baked beans, ice cream and beverage will be served in the church basement from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. only. Homemade pie and filled biscuits will also be on the menu.
The ladies of the parish will make many, many dozen prune, poppyseed and apricot biscuits (or “buchty” in Czech). They will go on sale at 11 a.m. near St. Isidore’s School.
Music will fill the air north of the church with: Paul Rysavy’s Group “S.O.L.”, “The Klecker Band” (they have played at all 37 festivals), and “The Czech Lites” from the New Prague-Montgomery area. Near the school Hans Hohrman will provide music. The Owatonna KC Choir will sing in the church before Mass.
A shuttle bus wiil transport festival goers to and from the church.
Beginning at 11 a.m. south of the school, there will be auctioning off of many old and new items. There will be an antique roll top desk, along with many countertops, miscellaneous cupboards, raised panel doors, marble sinks, etc. for sale at the auction.
