This note is written on the heels of the April Sorensen Memorial Half Marathon to acknowledge and applaud the tremendous job Susie Petersen has performed in helping organize and promote the marathon.

Form the initial planning stages of the marathon, Susie came to us via the Convention Visitor’s Bureau, and has assisted the work group in making the marathon a reality. Susie not only attended every meeting, but worked closely with the family and the work group always being mindful of the wishes the family wanted to maintain for the marathon and April’s memory. She provided never-ending resources from calling and knowing just the right people to call to complete a task, to advertising and everything in between.

Susie has a gracious demeanor, an infectious smile and positive personality. Many times we witnessed her go above and beyond her call of duties to see the marathon progress and move forward. Throughout all the months of planning Susie was always accommodating and a quiet pillar of strength.

The city of Albert Lea and Freeborn County should be proud we have such a dynamic person representing and promoting us!
