Mayor Erdman helps people with requests

I would like to publicly thank Mayor Randall Erdman for the work that he did to rename a small portion of Sunset Street. This is long overdue, but I bet many of you folks in Albert Lea do not know that there is a street in this city called Hillside Avenue! A few years ago, my elderly dad was living at his home alone at 1721 Sunset St. He was very concerned because nobody seemed to be able to find his house, because it actually sits off of Sunset Street on a small side street. He asked for help from (at that time) Councilman Erdman to rename the street so that emergency vehicles would be able to find him if they needed to do so. Many of you knew my dad: Norman Oakland.

So, though it took a while, there is now a short street in Albert Lea named Hillside Avenue! I lived there for a while until a couple of years ago, and cable men, pizza delivery people, and others had a hard time finding this street. It is on the map!

Keep up the great job, Mayor Erdman! It is obvious to me that you care about people! My dad died two years ago, but he told me how pleased he was with your help before he passed on. I will never forget it!  Thank you!
