The newest Mille Lacs Lake public water access will be dedicated to Frank Schneider Jr., at a grand opening event Wednesday. The Liberty Beach access is on the east side of the lake about eight miles north of Isle.

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Trails and Waterways, acquired the parcel in 2005 and developed the site in 2007. The access has two ramps for launching and retrieval of boats, 40 vehicle/trailer parking spaces, and a harbor that offers boaters protection from storms.

Schneider (1919 – 2005) was an avid angler, hunter and citizen activist.
