Minnie Lerum

Memorial services for Minnie Lerum will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center Chapel, 1201 Garfield Ave, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Coffee and cake will be served following the services.
Minnie died Thursday evening, July 3, 2008, at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea. She was 93 years of age.
Minnie was born Oct. 18, 1916, in Bradford, Iowa, the daughter of Harm and Dena (DeRaad) Nienoord. In 1925 the family moved to Hollandale. In 1957, Minnie married Russell Lerum in Rockford, Ill. She was a resident of Albert Lea much of her life and enjoyed summers at Beaver Lake. Minnie was an excellent cook and owned several restaurants. She worked at Queen Stove during the war and at North Central Plastics in Ellendale, for 10 years.
Minnie is survived by her sister, Viola Schweertman of Albert Lea, nieces Char Christensen, Mary Cincotta and many other nieces and nephews, and great-nieces Ashley, Erica Christensen and Alyssa, Samantha, Selena and great-nephew Andrew Cincotta and many other great-nieces and nephews.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, six sisters, three brothers and beloved nephew, Mark Christensen.
