The Naeve Hospital Auxiliary provides service to the Albert Lea Medical Center through many activities including such things as serving coffee in the Oncology Department, making baby caps, collecting and delivering magazines to the different departments for patient use. The other part of our mission is to support the Medical Center through fundraising activities examples being the gift shop and coffee shop. Another fundraising opportunity for its members is the card marathons.
The Naeve Hospital Auxiliary Bridge Marathon was a success again this year. The winners of the first Friday Novice group for the year 2007-2008 were:
First place: Rosemary Hovde and Corrine Rovang
Second place: Gen Adams and Doris Callahan
Third place: Bev King and Helen Ringham
There is room for three couples in this novice group.
The winners of the first Wednesday group of five tables that meet at HealthReach were:
First place: Gerri Berg and Beth Miller
Second place: Ann Oberg and Margaret Jensen
Third place: Connie Maxwell and Cindy Jensen
Fourth place: Charlotte Olson and Connie Benson
There is room for two couples in this group.
The winners of the Second Wednesday group of six tables who also meet at Health Reach were:

Third place: Betty and Larry Thisius
Fourth place: Cindy Jensen and Helen Bucklin
There is room for one couple in this group.
Next year a 500 Marathon will be started; it will meet on the third Friday of each month at Health Reach. It will be run like the Bridge Marathon. You will keep your same partner all year and your scores will be tallied at the end. There is room for only 12 couples, so space is limited.
The marathons will be starting again in September 2008. Both men and women are welcome. The cost is $15 per year and all proceeds go to the Naeve Auxiliary. If you are interested please call Barb Rofshus at 373-8389 by Aug. 1 so teams may be organized.
The auxiliary is an exciting place to volunteer; one meets many great people and has the satisfaction of helping people. If you are interested in more information about the auxiliary or would like to join please call Helen Bendixen, membership chairwoman, at 373-4820.
If you have specific questions about either the Bridge Marathon or the newly formed 500 Marathon, call Barb Rofshus, marathon chairwoman, at 373-8389.
