I wish to commend the Freeborn County Board of Commissioners for its leadership role in taking the first steps in a proposal of a high-speed rail line to run from Albert Lea to Minneapolis/St. Paul. I believe it could create an economic boost to the area and relieve congestion on the Interstate 35 corridor. The building of the rail line will make it easier for citizens to travel to cities such as Owatonna and Faribault along the line to the Twin Cities. Likewise, I believe it may make it easier for citizens from the metro area and towns along its path to travel to Albert Lea and Freeborn County to shop, eat, take in the sites and stay at our hotels/motels. This is the type of foresight this county needs from its county commissioners.
