The United Methodist Church in Albert Lea announces two twilight concerts on Mondays, Aug. 11 and Aug. 18. The concerts will run from 7 to 7:45 p.m.

This coming Monday’s concert is The Cathedrals of Paris. The music will transport the audience to the famous cathedrals of Paris and the music of many famous organ composers. There will be music by Alain, Dupre, Vierne, Bonnet, Langlais, Widor and others with short biographical notes on each piece or composer.

Eileen Nelson Ness will be the organist for this concert.

The Aug. 18 concert will include “Sweet Sounds” by Albert Lea’s Stray Notes. The group will perform a wide array of vocal music, serious and lighthearted, sacred to music of the 1940s. The group began singing together for the wedding receptions of their own children and have given concerts in Minnesota, Connecticut and New York City. The Stray Notes include Deb Stolarcek, Wendy Walker, Carol Hedalen, Eileen Nelson Ness and accompanist Marilyn Chafee.

Each concert will have an offering and lemonade and cookies will be served in the “French Cafe.”
