Stories in the May 26 and 27 edition of the Tribune talked about the Albert Lea City Council voting to designate the city&8217;s inspection department as the City Health Office so that all tattoo establishments can be inspected to make sure they comply with city ordinances.

This happened after the city received four complaint calls about one tattoo artist in town.

City Manager Victoria Simonsen clarified that most of the concerns received by the city centered around one specific tattoo artist who is no longer employed by a licensed tattoo establishment in town.

Simonsen said the reported instances occurred in places this artist was not licensed to be in.

Complaints received included people getting severe infections and people who reported that this artist was using a bathroom sink as his work station.
