Date change for Tools for Schools distribution

There has been a change of dates for the “Tools for Schools” drive and distribution. Registered students for Freeborn County schools may qualify for a backpack loaded with school supplies. Parents must show that the child is registered in a Freeborn County school, show proof of the child residing in the home and show proof of income. On Aug. 19 and 20, parents or legal guardians may come to the Salvation Army in Albert Lea at 302 Court St. to register and receive that backpack between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The process has been streamlined so that with proper documentation qualified applications can register and receive the backpack in one day. Because of a scheduling conflict, the Salvation Army will be taking applications on the Aug. 19 and 20 only.

With the changing economy, the Salvation Army has experienced a change in funding and is requesting the public’s help with need supplies. Bins are located in Wal-Mart, Walgreens and ShopKo for people to drop off supplies. Every little thing will make a difference to a child starting school this fall.
