Dwain Sundberg

Dwain R. Sundberg, 90, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his daughter’s home in Coon Rapids on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008. Dwain was born on Aug. 26, 1917, in Laurium, Mich. He worked for Streater Store Fixtures right after graduation. He working from 1934 to 1983, then he retired. Dwain started at the age of 17 as a coal boy. He soon met Ethel Melchert and they married and had six children. Dwain transferred to Salinas, Calif., in 1958 with Streater and then transferred back to Minnesota to the Albert Lea plant in 1971 and continued there until his retirement in 1983. Dwain was a very loving and caring family man. He loved woodworking and being outdoors.
Dwain is survived by his wife Ethel of 67 years, and four daughters, Sharon Swanson of Jordon; Nancy (Butch) Schell of Mackay, Idaho; ReNelle (Rick) Block of Coon Rapids; and Candice (Bob) Neely, Albert Lea. Dwain has 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Dwain is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Lillian (Hirsch) Sundberg, and two sons, Russell and Vern Sundberg. He will be sadly missed by all.
Funeral service is Monday at 11 a.m.. with a visitation, Sunday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Huber Funeral Home Chapel, 1801 Commerce Boulevard, Mound. Interment will Union Cemetery in Mound.
