Leah Skophammer

The memorial service for Leah Martin Skophammer will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in the East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service.
Leah died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at Oak Park Place, Albert Lea. She was 95 years old.
Leah was born in Benton, Ark., on March 30, 1913, the daughter of Napoleon and Nettie (Vance) Martin. She graduated from Little Rock High School and from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
Leah was married to Joseph M. Skophammer on Dec. 22, 1944, in Little Rock, Ark.
Leah taught in the elementary school in Crawfordsville, Ark. She has lived in Albert Lea since 1945. Leah has been an active member of First Lutheran Church, where she also taught Sunday School.
Leah was a member of the Does, PTA, a Girl Scout leader and a board member of Farmers State Bank. She enjoyed sewing and spending time with her family.
Leah is survived by her children: Nancy Skophammer of Albert Lea, Diane (Tom) Stockwell of Burnsville, Mary Jo (David) Wilcox of Olympia, Wash.; grandchildren: Keith Wilcox, Ellen Wilcox (Peter Lane), Joe (Diana) Wilcox, Melissa Stockwell, Laura Stockwell; great-granddaughter, Josephine Lane; sister: Inez Martin of Little Rock, Ark.; sister-in-law: Elizabeth Martin of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews.
Leah was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers: Vance and Jim Martin.
Memorials can be given to American Cancer Society, Crossroads Community Hospice or First Lutheran Church.
