The P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education is a grant program providing financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to resume studies due to changing demands in their lives. They must have a need for financial assistance with their educational expenses to improve their marketable skills.
The maximum grant is $1,500. Lesser amounts may be awarded according to individual needs and available funds. The grant is for one time only.
The money is intended as a grant-in-aid for expenses such as tuition, books, transportation or childcare, necessary to reach the applicant’s educational goal. The grant is not to be used for living expenses or to repay educational loans.
A woman is eligible to apply for a grant from the P.E.O. Program for Continuing Education if she:
– Is a U.S. citizen
– Is sponsored by a P.E.O. chapter
– Has had at least 24 consecutive months as a nonstudent sometime in her adult life
– Is within 24 consecutive months of completing her educational goal, and is not enrolled in a Ph.D. law degree, or medical doctorate degree program.
– Is studying in the U.S. or Canada.
Grants may be awarded for academic or technical courses.
Applications must be made through a P.E.O. Chapter. For more information, contact Shirlie Brownlow, 525 Park Ave., Albert Lea, 373-8881.
