Associate justice to visit Albert Lea

Lori Gildea, associate justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court, will be speaking to Albert Lea-Freeorn County Chamber of Commerce members and the citizens of Albert Lea on Monday. She will speak at the Albert Lea Senior Center at 10 a.m. on the subjects of “The Role of the Supreme Court” and “Judicial Selection.” She will take questions on these and other issues.
Later in the day, she will be speaking with students of Albert Lea High School.
Prior to being appointed as associate justice on Jan. 11, 2006, Gildea served as a judge in the Fourth Judicial District, Hennepin County.
Before being appointed to the bench in September 2005, Gildea was a prosecutor in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office (2004-2005), Associate General Counsel at the University of Minnesota (1993-2004) and in private litigation practice at Arent Fox in Washington, D.C. (1986-1993).
Justice Gildea is currently campaigning for re-election to the bench.
