Anytime Fitness held the first temptation weigh-in Sept. 19, sponsored by Green Mill. Green Mill brought in 10 pizzas. There was any type of pizza you can imagine and plenty of them to go around.

Out of 62 people coming to weigh, not one of the contestants ate.

Anytime Fitness invited area merchant employees as well as those who were showing their wares for the craft show in to have pizza. After all of those came that were hungry, there were five pizzas left. Anytime Fitness and Green Mill then decided to give the remaining pizzas to the Albert Lea Police Department. No pizzas were wasted.

The winner of the first weigh-in is Mindy Christiansen. Christiansen lost 17.2 pounds, or 7 percent of her body weight. Her prizes were donated by Movie Gallery, GNC, Blakes Body Shop and Anytime Fitness.

Although there was no prize for second and third they are worth mentioning. Richard Madson lost 16.2 pounds for 6.6 percent of his weight, and Vaughn Avery has lost 22.6 pounds for 6 percent of her weight.

There are no prizes for teams, but The Avery Team is in first place having lost a total of 51.6 pounds which puts them at a 3.6 percent loss as a team. The next team is the Cargill Girls with a total of 36.6 pounds lost and a percentage of 3.1 percent lost.

There are a number of teams that were not qualified this week because a member of that team didn’t make it in. All of those who did not make it in are disqualified for prizes from this weigh-in and the following weigh-in. Anytime Fitness needs a baseline for weight loss each weigh-in to qualify for that weigh-in’s prizes and the following weeks prizes. They are still in for the final weigh-in just not the bi-weekly prizes.

Again area sponsors would like you to pick a team or an individual and cheer them on. There are some serious competitors in this event. There have been strategies as well as sabotage discussed at weigh-ins and challenges. Don’t forget the big challenge scheduled for Oct. 22 at 5:30 p.m. at the Freeborn County Fairgrounds Grandstand. Come cheer for your team or individual and hear what Mega Force will be playing to motivate the competitors.
