Bulldogs finish 5-1 in tournament

The Lake Mills volleyball team finished second at the Algona-Garrigan Tournament Saturday.

The only loss for the No. 6-ranked Bulldogs came against the host Algona-Garrigan, which is also ranked No. 6, but in Class 3A.

Lake Mills finished the tournament 5-1 and are now 26-2 on the season with its only losses coming to Algona.

“Anytime you finish behind Algona, you can’t be disappointed,” Bulldogs head coach Jim Boehmer said. “But we are disappointed with how played against them. They just kept coming and we wilted.”

Lake Mills lost 17-21, 10-21 to Algona.

The Bulldogs defeated Fort Dodge St. Edmond 21-9, 21-11 to open the tournament and won against Coulter-Alexander-Latimer 21-10, 21-17. Lake Mills also defeated Garner-Hayfield 21-13, 21-13; Bishop-Garrigan 21-10, 23-21 and Clarion 21-19, 21-16.

The Bulldogs play West Hancock Tuesday night at home.
